As Mayor of London, I am determined to do whatever it takes to ensure that London, my chosen home for 20 years, retains its place as the leading Global City and that **all Londoners feel safe, secure and empowered with opportunities for growth.** This position, however, masks the fact that **around 2.2 million Londoners continue to live in poverty.** This is why **improving wellbeing and living standards are critical for me.** I strongly believe much more needs to be done for the low- and middle-income households across London. I am passionate about reinvigorating optimism and pride for these families and believe this can be achieved through my proposals to level up across the city. **My family heritage, is steeped in service to society for over 140 years, sandwiched between three centuries,** the 19th, 20th and 21st.This serves as my guiding light. **My life’s work has been dedicated to crafting innovative solutions in banking and financial services worldwide.** I have worked tirelessly for community engagement, inspiring active participation in development projects and philanthropic initiatives in London and internationally. I have worked very closely with the next generation and have supported opportunities in 44 countries to date. I am a catalyst for **positive change** and will urge the younger generation to shape their communities for the better. At the heart of all this is my **unwavering support for entrepreneurship,** alongside a formidable belief in transforming ideas into thriving ventures. I want to hear from all communities about the issues impacting them. This is why I am engaging directly with communities and businesses across all sectors to work together to secure London’s bright future. ### Making London Safe For All Safety is paramount for our communities. Londoners do not feel safe anywhere, anytime, anymore. Women feel unsafe. London has failed its youth with gang warfare spreading. Criminal exploitation of children is increasing. ### Has the current Mayor of London forgotten he is responsible for the totality of policing? Too many Londoners are impacted by crime. This must stop. * ** I will create **dedicated units** to tackle crime. * ** Increased and urgent focus on violence and crime against **women**. * ** Ensure visible on the beat **community policing**. * ** **Re-open police stations** where crime rates are high * ** Measure each police officer’s performance strictly against **crime reduction** and **prevention goals** ### One life lost is one too many ### Getting London Moving This is hampering London’s economic growth, having been ranked as the most congested city in the world The Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) is a disaster whilst Tubes, buses, roads are all clogged. The Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs) are not helping. ### Is the current Mayor of London not aware his policies have brought London and Londoners to a standstill? Costs have increased for Londoners and businesses with these policies and low-income households are impacted. A total revamp is essential. * ** I will **scrap ULEZ**. - ** LTNs will be abolished. - ** Congestion Charge will be removed over weekends and holidays. - ** Additional resources will be provided to minimise noise pollution. I will ensure the transport system is efficient, effective, fair and equitable for all. ## Levelling up for Londoners Around 25% of Londoners and over 33% of Children live in poverty, This is shocking and totally unacceptable Children, women, people living with disabilities and long-term conditions, people from minority ethnic groups, lone parents and people who are socially excluded, such as rough sleepers and many others with low income levels are struggling to cope. ## Has the current Mayor of London forgotten his moral responsibility to ensure the wellbeing of all Londoners? This is a top priority London is broken. - ** I will deliver genuinely affordable homes. - ** The voice of Londoners will be encouraged in new housing plans - ** Standards of temporary accommodations will be improved by working closely with boroughs. - ** Will fight for making childcare more affordable for claimants. - ** I will use my independent voice to lobby hard against the Government’s two-child benefit cap and for increasing child benefit. - ** I will ensure free school meals. - ** Will unlock employment opportunities by encouraging further investment in London. - ** Will increase funding for benefit, debt and welfare legal advice services and make them more effective. - ** I will work with the business community to create more flexible employment opportunities. I will bring back the smile for all Londoners. ## Strengthening ### London’s Communities Communities are feeling isolated in London, there is a growing sense of social dislocation, inequalities created by poor policies have exacerbated the problem. London feels like a lonely place to live for many, lack of adequate community facilities, work, skills and employment opportunities affecting many, lower engagement with fami- lies unsure of housing, volunteering by fewer people, not enough government or council funding, youth are leaving their communities. ## Has the current Mayor of London not realised many of his policies have left communities struggling and made them insular? Creating cohesiveness and bringing communities together is critical * **I will strengthen relationships between neighbours and neighbourhoods through a community cohesion strategy.** * **Will celebrate the diversity of London’s communities by championing the voices of young people through the creation of borough led youth councils.** * **Volunteers and volunteering will bea key plank strategy through a Mayor of London Volunteering fund.** * **I will use my independent voice to lobby hard against the Government’s two-child benefit cap and for increasing child benefit.** * **Sports and culture will be fostered like never before.** * **Sustainability and environment will be areas of focus.** * **Will create a Mayoral Statement of Community Involvement Happy communities mean thriving communities all working with the same goal for their own London.** I will work tirelessly and selflessly across communities and boroughs. ## Championing London The leadership and ambition to spearhead and develop sustainable prosperity and re-define London’s pitch to the world has been lacking. London needs a Champion to continually showcase its unique strengths and sectors. The business ecosystem needs to be world leading and world beating. More Fortune 500 companies need to make London their Global Headquarters. ## The current Mayor of London forgot he should have Championed London from the front? London is a great city with so much offer to everyone. It is competing with other cities on many fronts.
